It's about dignity

I am a visual artist and documentary photographer focusing on social issues. I call my body of work HUMANS. Its goal is to restore the dignity many people have lost through inhumane situations, by inviting viewers to engage in a personal dialogue with my art.

I meet people in diverse situations around the world: people fleeing war, surviving drought and hunger, people standing up against injustice, and individuals who are stigmatized.

To create images with these people I don’t just point my camera and fire. Getting permission is just the start. I make a human connection by building a bridge of cultural understanding and emotional sensitivity, to bring their humanity into the picture.

I invite you to recognise yourself in the other, to see the dignity in the shared humanity that connects us all. You will see and better understand people who live in hardship but are creating their own lives of inner strength and resilience. In opening up to empathy we can nurture compassion toward all HUMANS.
