In 1955 the socio-spiritual organisation Ananda Marga was founded by Prabhat Ranjan Sarkar, for his followers also known as ‘Baba’. Since then, the organisation has grown into a global network with centers in 180 countries.
Ananda Marga literally means ‘Path of Bliss’. It aims to serve people on an individual level through yoga, meditation and a healthy lifestyle and on a social level through disaster relief, schools, medical centers and community development projects.
These pictures are taken in the Ananda Marga center in Davao in the Philippines during the lockdown as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic. The monks and nuns living in the center continued with their daily practices in silence and devotion. The pandemic didn’t only have an impact on the amount of people at the center but as well – and to a much higher degree – on the financial support the organisation offers the schools and training centers for children.
The center in Davao is developed by Dada Mantrajapananda 20 years ago. He is still actively training new brothers from around the world to become a monk.
